Frequently Asked Questions about Pack 65

Some frequently asked questions about Pack 65:

Q: How much does it cost?
A: Current dues are $60 per year.  This covers the annual BSA fee as well as awards presented throughout the year.  It also covers a subscription to Boy's Life monthly magazine.  Scouts also get a Pack 65 T-shirt.  There is also the cost of the uniform, which may be ordered through https://www.scoutstuff.org/ or purchased directly at a local scout store.  There are also a number of other events, which may or may not require payment.  These events are not required to attain rank, but are part of the fun and bonding of scouting.

Q: What school do most of the boys attend?
A: Most boys are enrolled at Martin School, however a number come from the other elementary schools in town (Falls, Roosevelt, Amvet) as well.  Elementary-aged boys from all area public and private schools are welcome.  You do not need to be a North Attleboro resident to have your son join a North Attleboro Cub Scout Pack.

Q: What age does a boy have to be to start?
A:  Starting in 2016, boys as young as kindergarten age (ages 5-6) are eligible for our new Lions program.

Q: What is the parental commitment?
A: There's a direct correlation between a Scout's commitment to the program, and his parent's involvement.  Scouts with high parental involvement are more apt to remain Scouts.  Obviously, all official Pack leaders are volunteers and commit a good deal of time to provide this program for your son.  The more parent volunteers helps spread the work around and makes for an all around better program for the boys.  If being a leader isn't your thing, then you are welcome to attend regular committee meetings where administrative and program decisions are made.  At a minimum, parents should be expected to assist their boys with the requirements necessary to earn their ranks.  Cub Scouts is not a "drop off" program, and adults are expected to be onsite while their group meets.
