2018-2019 Scouting Year GET READY!!!

We are geared up to start out 2018-2019 year! We are excited to have many fun events planned! We will be meeting each Tuesday evening at New Bethel Baptist Church. So come out and meet some of our Scouts and ask any and all questions you have as well as find out what we have planned for the year.

Pinewood Derby - February 16, 2019

The Pinewood Derby is a memorable event for all Scouts.  Our Pack event will be held on Saturday, February 16th at 11 am.  The event will be held at 608 Lions Club Road, Wendell, NC at St Eugene's Catholic Church. Awards will be presented for speed, craftsmanship and originality.

Make great Scouting memories!  Planned dates March 22 – 24, 2019

Two-Night Camping Program Friday 4:00 p.m. to Sunday 9:00 a.m. Cost per person is $96.00 / 10-person minimum per group Camper must be onboard by 8:00 p.m.

Camping for two nights includes Friday night and Saturday night on USS YORKTOWN. Meals include breakfast on Saturday morning, Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner, and breakfast on Sunday morning. Friday dinner is not included. Included in your stay are a movie in the Ship’s Theater, tour of all ships at Patriots Point, an excursion of your choice, and a camping patch.

Cub Scout Pack 141 Children's Book Drive

Are your kids finished reading their books?  Do you know what to do with them now? Bring your new and gently used children's books to the Sonic located at 304 S Main St, Rolesville on Saturday October 4th from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. where the Pack 141 scouts will be waiting to take them off your hands. Collected books will be donated to the media center at Rolesville Elementary school.

Pack 141 Fall Camping Trip to Camp McNeill

The scouts and parents of Pack 141 enjoyed a beautiful weekend of camping at Camp McNeill near White Oak, NC. Camp McNeill Cub Scout World offers an adventure of a lifetime for Cub Scout age boys. Program areas include a Gold Mine, Futuristic Space Station, BB and Archery Ranges, an expanded Fitness Trail, an outdoor Basketball Court, and the Julia Butler Playground. Other themes program areas include the Pirate Ship, a Western Fort, the Native American Tee-pee Village, and Tom Sawyer rafts.  

Pack 141 took over the fort which provides either tent camping or bunkhouse cabins. Not to mention hot water and flush toilets. The scouts had a great time exploring all of the fun theme areas and joining Pack 800 from South Myrtle Beach at the Saturday night camp fire and skit entertainment. Thanks to leaders, parents and scouts for making this an outstanding pack outing.

Nature Hike

The pack hiked their way through Durant Nature Park on Saturday, August 23rd and had a fun morning of learning about the wetland environments of our county and recognizing poisonous plants and venomous reptiles. 

Summer Sports Day

A great time learning to play basketball and soccer at the Pack 141 Sports Day #1. Come join us for Sports Day #2 on August 2nd at Sanford Creek Elementary School, Rolesville for baseball and ultimate frisbee.

Pack 141 2014 Crossover Ceremony

Fifteen Pack 141 Cub Scouts and their families celebrated their crossing over into their new ranks. Congratulations to them all for their hard work and the great fun we all had this year.

Pack 141 NOVA Mathematics Award Recipients

The NOVA Program Cub Scouts have completed and received the Pack 141 NOVA Mathematics Award.

Music is in the Air

The pack worked together to earn their Music belt loop. They learned about different types of music and musical instruments with help of our multi-talented parents and leaders.

Pack 141 Math Camp

March 17th, 2014
Pack 141's first was a great success with Cub Scouts with each rank represented. The scouts spent the day getting a taste of several mathematics topics including:
  • Geometry - Recognizing shapes our everyday world with a shape scavenger hunt 
  • Bookkeeping - tracking your money on a check register while playing Monopoly.
  • Measurements - determining the height of a tree by measuring its shadow and baking brownies. 
  • Cryptography - decryption of different codes including Morse Code
  • Statistics - Tracking inventory using LEGOs with line and bar charts
  • Probability - predicting the outcome of what position a thrown shoe will land
Each scout that attended earned both their Mathematics belt loop and pin.

Pack 141 NOVA Science Award Recipients

April 9th, 2014
Five members of Pack 141 have earned and received the distinguished Cub Scouts NOVA Science Award. This award was present to Will Christensen, Jonathan Sawyer, Freddie Sawyer, Dylan Estes and Garrett Smith by NOVA program leader Rick Christensen. 

Here are a few of the science topics that were covered.

  • Scientific Methodology - developing a hypothesis, capturing and analyzing the results of experiments like gravity vs velocity using a catapult, making batteries out of a potato to light an LED.
  • Career Opportunities in Science - guest speakers in physics, astronomy and marine biology. 
  • How to make a Science Fair Project - project topics covered air pollution, how meteorite craters are made, the aerodynamics of paper airplanes and paper cinematography.
  • Visiting a place of science - a visit to the Morehead Planetarium and Ft. Fisher Aquarium
  • Weather - Capturing weather data, learning about the water cycle and understanding weather forecasts.

Awahili District Spring Campout

March 28th, 2014
Pack 141 scouts and families participated in the First Annual Awahili District Spring Camp-O-Ree at Camp Campbell. A damp but fun time was had by all. The Cub Scouts had a great time teaming up with Troops and Ventures from around our new district.

Sleeping with the Fishes at Fort Fisher

The pack visited the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher to spend the evening learning about the underwater world and the night sleeping next the 235,000-gallon Cape Fair shoals tank while sharks, eels and other fish swam close by.
